I don't know exactly when I held my first camera.
So let me try and remember this here with you.
When I was 3 years old, my sister Naama would catch me in particularly embarrassing moments with the disposable point & shoot film cameras she had at the time. I remember she would immediately go and develop the photos on the main street – Balfour. "Develop express" It was a great time and time really flew by
but
Maybe it was later.
When I held my father's legendary Pentax K1000, which he had carefully stored in a leather case on some secret shelf in his room?
It could have been either of the two or at a later time.
When Anna was in her 2nd year – she asked me why I was going to buy a camera (at the time a simple 5MP one)
If – "You can take pictures with your phone, right?"
The truth is that I don't exactly know. I don't know what it is about this device that just blows my mind. And especially my partner Tamar who tells me enough is enough of taking the camera everywhere!!! (And I still do..)
When I took it more seriously I worked on a DSLR and then moved to mirrorless and then it was too late. The film bug infected me.... Sometimes people say I mumble "cinematic look" in my sleep, I don't know I just want to open the shutter to 180 and press rec
Actually I didn't get into video editing since childhood. It happened later, and by a chance. when I was asked to shoot and edit a Promo for a local shop. and the rest is history..
Now that I've been in the field for 5 years, editing films including a full length feature film, commercials, music videos that are seen by thousands of people I've realized that this is what its all about. the grind maybe hard but the satisfaction of doing what you love is harder, in a good way of course.
Between sitting for hours on end editing and going out shooting on set that also last hours – for me, this is true happiness.
(Even if it is accompanied by strong existential questions)
Today I know..
I am strongest at working on projects in a comprehensive and thorough manner with a focus and emphasis on a story at the center. That's when I can truly see and feel the final product in the best possible way.
